How to Get Your Washington, DC Motorcycle License

In order to get your Washington, DC motorcycle license, you must take the Washington, DC written motorcycle test. This is not the same as the Virginia motorcycle written test. You would take the test as a "service" DMV office. The fee is $10. From there, you may take the Motorcycle Skills class. By taking this class, you do not have to take the Washington, DC skills test. The Steps to Getting Your Washington, DC Motorcycle License

1. Study the Washington, DC motorcycle skills manual.
2. Take the Washington, DC motorcycle skills "knowledge test" at a "service" DMV office.
3. Get your Motorcycle Learner's Permit in exchange for passing the motorcycle knowledge test.
4. Register for the Motorcycle Riding Concepts Basic Rider Motorcycle Class.
5. Successfully finish the class to receive a riding skills exemption certificate.
6. Take the riding skills exemption and the motorcycle learner's permit to a Washington, DC DMV office, where you can now get your Class M driver's license designation.
