Q: Do I need a permit to take the Basic Rider Course?
A: You do not need a permit or Motorcycle license to take this course.
Q: Do I need a permit to take the Advanced Skills Class or Expert Class?
A: Yes, you will need a permit or motorcycle license to attend either course.
Q: How much is each course?
A: The Basic Rider Course course is $295.00 in the spring and fall, and $325 during the summer. The Advanced course is $400.00 on a Buell Blast and $500.00 on a Road King. The Expert course is $1,500.00. Individual training is a minimum of 3 hours - $400 on the Buell and $500 on the Road King. Q: Can I ride my own Motorcycle?
A: MRC provides the motorcycles. It is known that the student will not ride as aggressively on their own motorcycle. Learning is optimum when fear of damaging the motorcycle is removed from the learning dynamics. The Basic Rider Course training motorcycle is the Buell Blast. The Advanced course training motorcycle is the Buell Blast or the Harley Davidson Road King. The Road Kings are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We train rain or shine, so bring your rain gear with you. If there is lightning, we will clear the training site and gauge the weather.
Q: What do I need to bring to class?
A: While on the range, students must wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and footwear that covers the ankle (riding boots are preferred—no sneakers), a ¾ coverage helmet, eye protection ,and gloves with no cut-out fingers. MRC can provide a helmet, glasses, and gloves, or you may bring your own.
Q: Where are the courses held?
A: The Basic Rider Course is held 17965 Dumfries Shopping Center Plaza, Dumfries, Virginia, across from East Coast Harley Davidson. Other courses are held at 9001 Arlington Blvd., Fairfax, Virginia (just east of Fairfax City on Route 50).
Q: Is MRC part of the Virginia Rider Training Program?
A: Yes, MRC is affiliated with the Virginia Rider Training Program. Successful completion of our Basic Rider Course (BRC) exempts you from the DMV written and riding skills test. Patriot Harley Davidson & MRC also offer a Riders Edge New Riders Course which also exempts you from the DMV written and riding skills test.
