Richard Yuras started riding over 40 years ago on a Honda CS65 Sport. His passion for riding has grown and so has the size of his motorcycles. He enjoys riding year-round on his 2012 Heritage Softail.  Richard enjoyed a 38-year career in the fire and rescue service.  He was a member of an international urban search and rescue task force that deployed to Haiti and Japan to assist with earthquake rescue operations. The opportunity to introduce others to the fun and excitement of riding and riding safely is all part of his motorcycling passion.  Being a rider coach is a privilege and a responsibility that he takes very seriously.

Mick started riding in the summer of 65. His first two-wheeled ride was a 1956 Lambretta scooter with three gears. And first gear didn't work. His first MC was a 450 Ducati Scrambler while stationed in Naples Italy. His current ride is a 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200s with 186,000 miles. And counting.

Mick started his 22-year Navy career as a musician which morphed into becoming a sound technician, stage light tech, and stage manager for the U.S. Navy Band in DC. He extended his talents to his church praise band.

Mick is a year-round rider and has been coaching since 2006. He's conducted novice, intermediate and advanced classes and is very big on riding safely, responsibly, and with courtesy. He truly enjoys teaching, having fun with students, helping them get to their "next level" and especially enjoys the "Aha" moments.

Mick's three grown kids and two grandkids keep his life active.

This course offers a five hour self-paced online course follow by 11 hours of riding instruction based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum ($349).

Are you not sure if motorcycle riding is for you? Do you want some advance preparation for the Basic Rider Course? Then check out our Headstart course or our Individual Novice Course Level 1 (INC-1).

This course is specifically designed for the novice/beginner rider. Basic Rider Course Students learn about components and controls of a motorcycle, riding gear and preparing for the ride. The risk of riding and managing that risk are studied in depth to better prepare the student for "real life" riding. Strategies are investigated that will prepare each student for riding on the street in traffic. Whether you want to learn to ride for pleasure or basic low-cost transportation or both, this course is perfect for you.

Many students are returning riders. They rode a motorcycle in their youth, but haven't ridden in years. This is a perfect reintroduction to riding. Experienced riders can break bad habits and gain new skills.

Graduating students receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation completion certificate and a Virginia Class "M2" endorsement (motorcycle license). Here's some more information about obtaining your Class "M2" endorsement in Virginia and Washington, DC.

We offer both weekday and weekend classes throughout the year. Class sizes are typically 10 students facilitated by two professional coaches.

Each Basic RiderCourse student must complete a five-hour on line session. Upon completion of the online portion students must download and print their completin certificate. Students must bring their completion certificate to the first riding session.
