Who Is This Course For?

This is not the same as the Basic Rider Course, which is designed for new riders. Instead, this course is for:

• Riders who lost their motorcycle endorsement and need to regain it
• Experienced riders who never obtained a license but now need one
• Off-road riders who didn’t need a motorcycle license before but now want one
• Military personnel who need Level 2 certification to ride on a base

Course Format

• Four-hour self-paced online classroom
• Up to six hours of riding instruction based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum

What You’ll Learn

This course is designed for motorcyclists of all ages looking to refine their riding skills. It’s ideal for graduates of our Basic Rider Course or experienced riders with a few thousand miles on their motorcycle.

• Control at low speed
• Stopping quickly & tight turns from a stop
• Stopping distance demonstration
• Stopping in a curve
• Multiple curves & lane changes
• Limited-space maneuvers
• Avoiding hazards & low-speed maneuvers
• Skill practice
• Skill test (optional, but required for licensing)

License Waiver & Certification

If you have riding experience but no motorcycle license, successful completion of the Skill Test earns you:

• MSF & Virginia DMV completion certificates—waiving further testing at the Virginia DMV
• DC residents must take a written test to obtain their motorcycle license

Ride Your Own Motorcycle or Ours

You can bring your own motorcycle or use one of ours. If you normally ride with a passenger, they are welcome to accompany you at no additional cost. Your passenger can ride with you or observe, except during the first exercise.

Requirements for Personal Motorcycles

If you choose to ride your own motorcycle, you must provide:

• Proof of insurance
• Vehicle registration
• Current safety inspection sticker
