Basic RiderCourse 2 - License Waiver

NOTE: This course is not the same as the regular Basic Rider Course which is for those just learning to ride. This course is for those who have lost their MC endorsement or still need to get one after many years of riding. It will also satisfy the needs of those who have a decent amount of riding experience off-road and didn't need a motorcycle license for that but now want one.

This course offers a four-hour self-paced online classroom followed by up to 6 hours of riding instruction based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum ($260).

The Basic RiderCourse 2 - License Waiver is for motorcyclists of all ages looking to improve their riding skills. The course is ideal for graduates of our Basic RiderCourse or experienced riders with a few thousand miles on their current motorcycle. The class is only a half-day (about 6 hours) and you can ride your own motorcycle or ours.

Do you need Level 2 certification to ride on a military installation? This is the course you need.

Did you lose your motorcycle endorsement? Or, maybe you still need to get your endorsement even though you've been riding for years? We don't judge. We won't even ask. This is just what you need!

This class includes:

  • Control at Low Speed
  • Stopping More Quickly & Tight Turns From a Stop
  • Stopping Distance Demonstration
  • Stopping in a Curve
  • Multiple Curves & Lane Changes
  • Limited-Space Maneuvers
  • Avoiding Hazards & Low-Speed Maneuvers
  • Skill Practice
  • Skill Test (Optional. You’ll need it to get your license.)

If you have riding experience but do not currently have your motorcycle license, you will receive completion certificates from MSF and Virginia DMV after successfully completing a Skill Test. Those certificates will waive further testing at the Virginia DMV to obtain your motorcycle license. If you are a DC resident, you will have to take a written test to obtain your motorcycle license.

In this course, you’ll improve your riding skills on your motorcycle or on ours. Exercises include: control at low speed, stopping quickly, cornering judgment, multiple curves, limited-space maneuvers, control-skills practice, hazard avoidance & cornering finesse.

If you normally ride with a passenger, your passenger is welcome to accompany you at no additional cost. Your passenger can ride with you or just watch in any or all of the exercises except the first one.

Each student choosing to ride their personal motorcycle must show proof of insurance, vehicle registration and current safety inspection sticker for their motorcycle at the beginning of the class.

Available Classes will be listed later in March.
